BSL IG Book Club
Dear Instagram Friends,
We are excited about the growing number of you following our posts, and we want to support your spiritual growth in the best ways we are able.
Many of you responded to our request for virtual book club reading suggestions.
You responded – We listened.
Our first live connection with you will include reading and discussing one of your recommendations. Rich Wilkerson, Jr’s 2018 book “Friends of Sinners: Why Jesus cares more about relationship than perfection” offers a healthy and positive response to many of the issues people have with organized religion and church cultures when these seem to frustrate and obstruct the experiences individuals are having today with their spiritual journey and authentic connection with God and other people. (Click title of book above to be redirected to Amazon for purchase.)
We are a nationwide community of people committed to accepting, respecting, and loving people wherever they are on their spiritual journey. No judgment. We follow the inclusive model of Jesus who embraced people many felt were wildly outside what was religiously pure and righteous. We focus on being a grace-led, compassionate, and transformative community which is Jesus-patterned, Christ-following, and Spirit-saturated in our practices.
We enjoy discussing authors, like Wilkerson, who are willing to re-examine what in our traditions and practices is inspired by the teachings and example of Jesus and what largely reflects the perpetuation of the views of society and congregations at an earlier time. We want to hear what the Spirit is saying to us today. We are already looking at another book for the Instagram community to follow Wilkerson’s, Jen Hatmaker’s “Interruped: When Jesus wrecks your comfortable Christianity.”
To sign up and receive the call-in times and coordinates for the March 18 one hour discussion of Wilkerson’s book please complete the registration form below. We will keep you on our list for future information regarding book group, teleconferenced interviews of individuals, Bible studies, in-person conferences , etc. Don’t worry, we aren’t the SPAM-type and you can unsubscribe at any time!! We hope you will join us and help us know what type of nurture would be helpful to your growth in grace.
With Anticipation of Being of Service to You,
Richard Davenport, Executive Director
